Tarsha's Second Life
I wanted to invite all my readers to check out this new rockin' video from one of my Myspace friends, Sheldon Tarsha, a vocalist who has previously worked with Steven Adler of Guns N Roses before breaking out on his own. He sings lead for his band of the same name. Kinda looks like Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers, doesn't he?
See the pic of Anthony Kiedis below:

If you want more of Tarsha, check out his myspace site here.

Reaver Comments Back
A few weeks ago, I posted an entry about a local industrial music band called Reaver and I even let them know about it through their myspace page. Surprisingly, they actually took the time to check out my blog post and commented back on my MySpace page. Here's the comment that "R" posted back regarding my entry:

Wow, I'm really impressed now! If you've taken the time to listen to Reaver's music
then you'll know why I'm really awed by R's talent...being able to get an entire album together (music, composition, vocals, etc.) all by himself! Reminds me of Prince
. We all know he can play anything, too. Musical geniuses! Man, I wish could play musical instruments that well. I play piano, ukelele, recorder, organ, and a teeny bit of guitar but not well enough to perform professionally. (Sigh!)
By the way, Reaver has made their first album, Age of Babalon, available as a free download on their website. Or, you can CLICK HERE. Age of Babalon is a collection of Reaver's earlier music and experimental styles. The track listing is: 1. New Babalon 2. Alchemical Suicide 3. Desert Sun 4. GODrone 5. Cold 6. Xenobyte 7. Persephone 8. Vestiges of Stability 9. Strength 10. Samael. You've got to get it!!!

Any Twilight Fans Out There On Myspace?
I was wondering if any TWILIGHT
fans out there use Myspace and still have the 1.0 (original) layout. I made some myspace contact tables for TWILIGHT
fans, but they are only useable in the original layout. I'm going to post them here in case you might want to use them.

To use this Bella/Edward contact table, use this code:

Marty Casey - he was on Rockstar INXS, too!
So I've learned that JD Fortune has been working on a solo project after INXS stopped touring. As I await to learn more about it, I thought I'd take a quick look back at Rock Star: INXS
, the show that basically catapulted him to stardom.

In that pic (taken from Rock Star: INXS
) you can see (from left to right) Marty Casey, JD Fortune, and MiG Ayesa. All three were anticipating the decision from INXS
on who would be INXS's new lead singer. Doesn't JD look so adorable there? I have to admit though...I was actually rooting for Marty Casey
at the time.
I was very impressed by Marty's performances. To put it simply, his performances kicked @ss (I wasn't sure if blogger would allow me to publish the actual word I meant - but I think you know what I meant)! One I especially got a real kick out of watching was his dark rendition of Baby One More Time - yes, that Britney Spears
hit song. Check out the video of Marty Casey's version on YouTube here.
While Marty
didn't win the contest to become INXS's new lead singer, he and his band, The Lovehammers,
were fortunate to be able to perform with INXS for a great part of the concert tour.
I purchased a CD of Marty Casey and the Lovehammers as soon as it became available. I was quite pleased with the album which included the song Trees
that Marty co-wrote and performed on Rockstar INXS. It's one album I definitely feel was worth buying.

If you're interested in getting more news and information about Marty Casey, please visit his official website:

You can also check out Marty Casey on myspace:

To hear the demos of JD's solo music
, you can check out his myspace site, too:

Oh yeah, I found JD Fortune's official website. Here's the link:

I didn't mean to leave MiG Ayesa
out, but here's a link to his official website in case you're interested in learning more about him, too:

By the way, that's a collage I put together of Marty Casey shortly after Rockstar INXS ended its run. I just thought I'd share it here. (Wow, can you believe that was almost three years ago?!)

Almost Halloween!
Yay! My favorite holiday is coming soon - Halloween!!! The reason why I love Halloween is not just because it's so much fun to dress up in costumes, but because there's always so much chocolate candy around - LOL! Many mothers I work with often bring the "extra" candy that their kids get from Trick-or-Treating to work because they don't want their kids consuming so much candy at home. So we get to have candy all day long at the office.
Anyway, I thought that I would share a few fun and interesting Halloween videos I found on YouTube. I didn't pick any gorey, horror videos - you can have your fill of those from the video stores and television. I just picked out a few that I thought my readers might have a little pre-Halloween fun with.
The first one is a song from one of my favorite MySpace friends, Creature Feature. They know how to make all year long feel as fun as Halloween. I met them while they were still a lesser-known indie band and got their CD autographed for my son who enjoys the same kind of music I do. The band was soon signed on by Sumerian Records and now have their CDs available at many great places like Best Buy and Amazon Music. Here's Creature Feature:
And since I love rock music, I thought this was a great Halloween rock video. This is Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas featuring the song "This is Halloween" by Marilyn Manson:
If you've followed my blogs, you'll know I also love cartoon animations. This one is a Halloween video featuring the Happy Tree Friends. It's called "Out of Sight, Out of Mime". It's only about two and a half minutes long, and while it has some animated violence in it, it's only a cartoon!
Finally here's another interesting one, called "Do They Know It's Halloween?" featuring the music of Arcade Fire from Montreal, Canada. I thought it was a really creatively done piece.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween celebration this year!!!

How I Got Started Doing Graphics on the Web
I really never used a computer for anything other than email, games, and word processing needs until my husband got me a copy of Adobe Photoshop
. I really didn't even know what to do with the software until I started noticing the kinds of comment graphics and layout art that people were posting on myspace and other social networking sites. I thought that it would be kind of cool if I could make those things myself.
Then I met a local musician named Geoff Gulbranson. (Actually my youngest sister introduced me to him through myspace and I later found out he and his family attend the same church my family goes to). Though I'm not actually close friends with this musician, I do give him credit for allowing me to use some of his pictures to create graphics when I first started making them. He also helped promote my work and spread the word to other local musicians. I managed to get quite a few graphics out which Gulbranson used on his myspace page. He even used my banners and contact table designs for his myspace page for awhile. :)
One of the projects I was really proud of is the Eyes of Gulbranson wallpaper below. It was used as a background on his fan club site on myspace.

The practice I got from working with Gulbranson images led to further work on developing a press kit for the band he sings lead and plays guitar in called Myth410. Some other local artists that have posted or may still have my designs (banners or other graphics) on their pages include Vanquish, Sarin, Myth410, and Shed54. I currently only do band art for the Vanquish Fan page on myspace. (In other words, I'm not accepting any requests for band graphics at this time. Thank you if you're interested, though!).
