Top 3 Posts Last Week

Funny how the Christmas holiday season has already passed and yet my post about a How The Grinch Stole Christmas has been the number one read and searched post on my blog last week.  It was followed in second place by my post about my top five gothic bands with female singers, then lastly by by review of the Megan Fox film, Jennifer's Body.

Evanescence - The New Album

Evanescence finally released their long-awaited, self-titled album in October.  It made it to the top of the charts for its first week release sales of 127,000 copies.  Although it sold far less than their other chart-topping album, "The Open Door", the new album still made it to the top of the charts for albums sold that week. It trails only slightly to the sales of their debut album, "Fallen" which sold 141,000 copies in its first week.

I'm Dreaming about Evanescence

Concert Photo By David Atlas
I can't wait for Evanescence to go on tour again. My hubby and I attended their concert at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Virginia a couple of years ago and we had a blast. Amy Lee is like an angel onstage and you could easily get mesmerized by her beauty and voice. (That's why my husband jokingly says she's the only woman he'd ever leave me for).

Kidding aside, Evanescence recently went into the studio to start recording their next album. It's about time! Their last album, The Open Door, was released in 2006. So it's been almost 4 years since we've heard anything new from them.

A single from the upcoming album has been released and is available as a download from Amazon. "Together Again", as the single is titled, was a song that didn't make the cut into the last album. However, it was brought out as their artist contribution to the Haiti fund-raising efforts of the music industry. I can't wait to hear the full album when it comes out...definitely going to get a copy and add it to my hubby's Evanescence CD collection!

I sure hope Evanescence starts touring soon and includes our city in their schedule.  Until then, I guess I'll be dreaming about Evanescence (tee-hee!  I'm sure my hubby will be dreaming even more!)

My Top Five Gothic Bands With Female Lead Singers

1. Evanescence - Amy Lee has the most angelic voice in gothic rock music. She is also an amazing performer, with excellent stage presence. Her personality lights up the stage. I can't wait to see this group perform in town again.

2. Within Temptation - Sharon Den Adel of this Dutch band also has an angelic voice. Together with her band, Within Temptation's music puts you in a beautiful spell.

3. Lacuna Coil - Cristina Scabbia (no H in her first name! she reiterates) lends her beautiful singing voice to this Italian band whose music consists of guitar lines overlaid with prominent keyboard work, and contrasting dual female/male vocal harmonies (as described in Wikipedia). My friend from Vanquish introduced me to Lacuna Coil music a couple of years ago and found the band to carry a unique sound that borders from gothic to alternative metal.

4. The Divine Madness - Victoria Mazze of this American band is the brainchild of this talented group. She is not only seductively appealing but she has a beautifully haunting voice which makes this band's music perfect for horror movie and suspense movie soundtracks. They have done soundtrack music for The Hitchhiker, Bram Stoker's Dracula's Curse, and Transmorphers.

5. NightWish - has had a change in lead singers since I had first started listening to them. I like both female lead singers as they both had qualities of their own that added power to the band's music. I find this Finnish band a treasure of masterful and mesmerizing music that will grab your mind and your soul while you listen. Nightwish

My Immortal

I found a render of an MMORPG character, basically a goddess named Shaiya. I think she's really beautiful. I even put her up on my blogger banner in case you haven't noticed.

Anyway, I used photoshop to put together this image which I decorated with lyrics to Evanescence's hit song "My Immortal". I thought the lyrics went well with the image. I just wanted to share it here with my readers. (Note: If you want to be able to read the lyrics, just click on the picture and a larger image will open in your Internet browser window).

Evanescence is one of my favorite major bands. I was able to see them perform at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Virginia last year. Amy Lee is an amazing performer. She has the most beautiful singing voice and her stage presence is simply tops! I love her...haha, so does my husband. She is awesome!!!
