Another Two Thoughts on Tuesday

Here's Thought Number One: There's another series of books that I've gotten hooked on reading this year.  I've been reading Lauren Kate's FALLEN series which is a love story about a mortal teenage girl, Lucinda Price, and a mesmerizingly handsome fallen angel, Daniel Grigori.

Yeah, the first thing that came to my mind when I started reading the books was City of Angels.  Remember that heartbreaking movie starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan?  He was a fallen angel there, too.  But unlike City of Angels, Daniel was a high-ranking angel who went against commands and went after this beautiful young Lucinda.

As his punishment, he became damned doomed to a lifetime of falling in love with the same girl but losing her every 17 years.  And what makes it difficult is that she is reincarnated into a different person each time.  So she is never the same person and they fall in love but can never be together. The story is complicated by fighting between the angels and demons, and twists that make you think twice before you trust anyone.

I don't want to give away too much about the story.  Besides, I'm not done reading the books yet so I can't say too much about it yet.  I'm still in the middle of the second book, effectively titled TORMENT because of the torment these two star-crossed lovers are having to experience in their efforts to be together.

Here's Thought Number Two: I thought it was kinda cool that Michael J. Fox stated that he does NOT want Taylor Swift dating his adult son. Yeah, I know he may claim now that he was just joking about it, but knowing the kind of respectable celebrity that he is, I'm willing to bet he actually meant it at the time he said it.

After all, he's been married to the same woman, the mother of his children, for over 20 years and endured health challenges (his Parkinson's disease) along the way.  So he and Tracy Pollan are the rare showbiz couple that have stood the test of time.  I would think that they expect that their relationship wisdom has had some effect on their children...and be wise enough to steer clear of someone who has a very well-known habit of kissing and telling via songwriting!


Don't get me wrong, Taylor Swift fans (doubt you're reading my mostly rock music blog anyway), I think Taylor Swift is pretty and has some really catchy, cute songs that a lot of people can probably relate to (not me, though).

But when it comes to romance, I think she's either  playing the field or she's like a chronically compulsive teenager who keeps falling in love with falling in love...and you know, because of her "I'm sweet and innocent" kind of public persona, none of the guys she dates will ever say anything negative about her after the break up.

So call me a Taylor Swift hater if you must, but I just think any guy who dates her should date her with the understanding that the relationship will never last...get it? Never ever ever ever going to  last.
