Catching Fire Is Coming Soon

I don't know why but Jennifer Lawrence's performance as Katniss Everdeen in this new trailer for Catching Fire is making me want to cry.   Seriously...after this trailer was released a few weeks ago, I decided to reread the book just so I can visualize the movie (which I can hardly wait until November to see).

My first thought - I wonder why movies get made so far ahead in advance of their release date?  Some movies are completed over a year before they actually play in theaters.  So when they get around to making a sequel, some actors have grown much older (like the Harry Potter cast), some are not available to reprise their roles and have to be replaced (many of the James Bond actors), and then again, some end up dying (like Richard Harris who played Professor Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies).

My second thought - I wonder how they will end this movie.  Will it follow the book exactly and leave us with a cliffhanger?  I was so drawn into the book that when I finished reading at 2:30 in the morning, I had (yes, HAD) to pull out my copy of Mockingjay and start reading!  I was so curious about what was happening...it was like a sudden turn of events.  But it was all so exciting!!!  You have to read the book or watch the movie to know what I mean.  With the chosen actors who are so well-fit for their roles, I am sure Catching Fire is not going to disappoint me!!!

I wonder, too, how the movie is going to end. I was lucky enough not to get into the series until after the third and last book MOCKINGJAY was already released, so I did not have to suffer through the long waiting and anticipating that most of the fans of the HUNGER GAMES book series must have gone through! The trailers I've seen for CATCHING FIRE look extremely good--it seems they followed the book pretty closely or at least closely enough, and I am very much looking forward to seeing it when it comes out!

Right now, though, I'm really excited and can't wait to see the movie adaptation for THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES which is coming out in just a couple more weeks! This is based on another young adult book series, this one by author Cassandra Clare. If you head over to my tumblr blog at Tumble Down Lane, you can check out some of my posts about this upcoming movie! :)

Yes, Ophelia, that series looks very interesting, too! It's on my next to-read series...I hope it gets as popular as Twilight! :)

In all reality, I think it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for another movie series to become as big as the TWILIGHT saga or even to surpass it. I'm just hoping they'll at least make a movie for all the books in the TMI series!

There was another book series not too long ago that I really loved, and it was the CIRQUE DU FREAK series by Darren Shan. There are 12 books in the entire series, and I read all of them. I had hoped to see more movies after the release of THE VAMPIRE'S ASSISTANT, but apparently it didn't do well enough to make a sequel. :( Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta in THE HUNGER GAMES was in this too. He played the friend of the main character who became a vampaneze, one of the "evil" vampires. But as we all know, the vampires of the TWILIGHT series could not be beat! So down the drain went the CIRQUE DU FREAK.

I think TMI has the potential of becoming quite big maybe, but likely not as big as I'd like... If it does somehow become more popular than I expect, hey, I'm not going to complain! LOL! :) Anyway, yeah, I'm hoping for a decent turnout for TMI. :)

I read the first book and have not gotten to the second and third, but after watching that preview I think I'd better get those books and read them! I might even start over and reread the first one just to make sure I don't miss anything!

It is a shame they make movie so far in advance and make us wait for them.... They probably make more money the longer they keep us all in suspense!

Hi Liggy,

I really liked the first Hunger Games movie so I expect I'll like the second one even better... we have to wait until November? That's crazy.

Trina you definitely need to read the next book. It's not very long compared to other books you normally read. Plus since it is told by Katniss everything is coming from her point of view which helps the reader understand her character better and be more involved in her life. The movie just rounds it out because in the movie you get to see what is happening around her, things she doesn't realize is going on...

I know! The wait is killing me! Just like waiting for the next Thor and Avengers movies. Those are coming soon! :)

I am a total slacker on current books and movies. I heard great things about the Hunger Games books but have yet to read any.

I do agree about the time lag from books to movies, though. I had to re-read the last book of Harry Potter series so I could refresh my memory by the time the 2 movies came out.

Have a great week, Liggy!
