LiLo, time to grow up!

Like so many child stars, Lindsay Lohan grew up in the spotlight and seems to have melted in the spotlight.  I have not been following Lindsay's life closely like I follow music, but I see her name a lot in the celebrity columns and I feel like putting my two cents in.  Or as a BlogDumps member would say, I'm putting my two thoughts in for Tuesday.

If I were her friend, this is what I would want to tell her.

I understand, Lilo, life is hard.  We all go through those awful growing pains.  Unfortunately when you're a celebrity, surrounded by a lot of people who "want" to be your friend, raised by two opposites who could not keep it together in more ways than one, and the media trying to make every little thing you do public knowledge, those growing pains can even harder to deal with.  Besides that, the public eye can be very, very scrutinizing.

It kinda saddens me that you're one of a few celebrities who actually had intellectual potential but chose to give up on it. From what I read about your performance in school before you became home-schooled, you were really doing well in science and mathematics. So if you decided to leave showbiz, you probably could've succeeded in an academic field. But something in your life seemed to make it hard for you to stay on one path. It's like you were looking for something else - something to make you happy and fill a void in your life.  And that's why you made so many wrong turns in your life.  You just couldn't find what you were looking for.

All that partying, drinking, and drug abuse is taking its toll on your once youthful and healthy body.  I'm sure there are people out there who really care for you and want to see you get your life back in order just like Britney Spears is trying to do.  And look at Robert Downey Jr.!  Man, he has really turned his life around after that self-destructive spiral.

It's not too late, LiLo...you're getting there.  But you have to learn to grow up - unlike perhaps many people close to you have failed to do.  You can do it as long as you stay strong.  If you have to get yourself away from the media for awhile, you should do it.  It may give you a chance to clear your head, your thoughts, your emotions...and learn to truly love yourself.  That's one of the secrets to growing up.  Love yourself and others will love you, too.

American Football

To be honest with you, I don't know enough about American football to save my life (I lost interest after Jim Kelly - my favorite NFL player - retired from the Bills).   But I do know about entertainment and the Superbowl championships always have some of the most entertaining half-time show performances (and commercials).

Who can forget the 1993 half-time show featuring Michael Jackson?  It was Superbowl XXVII at the Rosebowl, Pasadena.  That was an amazing show, the only one where the TV ratings increased more than the Superbowl ratings.  It was also one of the most watched events in television history.  Michael Jackson had one of the most breath-taking, spectacular performances I've ever seen on TV.

Another unforgettable show was the Motown tribute in 1998.  It was a celebration of 40 years in Motown history.  That was Superbowl XXXII at the Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.  The show featured magnificent performances by some of my favorite Motown artists - Boyz 2 Men, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves, The Temptations, and Queen Latifah!  Yeah, I may like rock music more, but I can sing along and get down with these Soul and R & B artists when I want to.

My most favorite half-time show was - guess!  Yeah, the 2004 Rock the Vote half-time show.  I think I really made the time for it because MTV was plugging that show every second that they could.  Ads were all over the place - the Internet, magazines, radio, and TV, of course.  This took place at Superbowl XXXVIII at the Reliant Stadium in Houston.  And boy, was that show talked about for months after!  Why?  Because this was when Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" occurred.  Don't tell me you forgot!

Did I just bring back some fond memories?  Well, I wonder what other bloggers have to share about American Football - cheers and jeers...let's check them out with BlogDumps!  Click on the blinking button below to find other bloggers sharing their thoughts on the topic for Top Sites Tuesday.

30 Seconds To Mars Concert Review

Last night the Norva concert hall was filled with Jared Leto worshippers. His band, 30 Seconds to Mars, took hold of the stage at this sold out show and it seemed like Earth disappeared.  This was the second concert for the band at the popular NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia.

If short people like me weren't wearing at least 5 inch heels (I wore 5 inch high wedge sandals), you could barely see over everyone who were already standing shoulder to shoulder. When Jared Leto told everyone to jump up and down during several moments of the show, the ground was thumping and the sweat of the mass was pumping. You had to keep moving along with everyone or risk your toes getting stomped on by the excited and energetic"Mars army" in front of you.

The band played all their major hits (and more) between all the screams and adorations of the fans.  Jared Leto kept the fans in high spirits with non-stop interaction and calls for audience participation in the form of jumping, hand waving, marching forward and marching backward, and singing.  In the middle of the show, he disappeared from the stage and reappeared in the balcony area where he drew the crowds' attention to some of the fans there, including one young fellow named Ryan who was probably having the time of his life though wishing he could get out of his wheelchair and jump like the rest of the fans in the arena were doing.

Leto, who gave constant praise and appreciation to the concert-goers throughout the night, even dedicated a song to Ryan later.  What a touching moment that was!

For the final moments of the concert, Jared Leto picked a handful of 30 Seconds to Mars "worshippers" from the audience and took them up on stage to sing along and lead the rest of the concert hall during the final song of the night.  I'm sure there were jealous people left below but with the undying enthusiasm demonstrated by the crowds, you could never tell...

This was an awesome concert!  If you had never been to a 30 Seconds to Mars concert, you'll be in for an amazing ride when you go...
