First of all, I don't watch television much these days since I've been catching up on a lot of reading. I'm getting left behind by my favorite authors who keep putting out new novels and I haven't even read all their previous releases yet. And then I get caught in the wave of newer writers whose books are drawing popular attention because they're being turned into movies (The Hunger Games and Twilight, for instance).
But the Summer Olympics are on and this year's games are really very exciting!!! I am so happy for and proud of our US teams that have accomplished so much together and as individuals. At the same time, I am also impressed by the successes also shared by the competitors. They are all amazing athletes!!! Kudos to all the athletes that trained so hard to make to the Olympics!!!
My second thought goes to Gabby Douglas, that amazing young lady who's getting a lot of attention in the field of gymnastics. She makes it look so easy - yet I know it's not. And wow! I am also impressed with her attitude. That's what I call a winning attitude...and I'm not talking about her attitude toward training. I'm talking about her attitude towards those people who are complaining about her hair. Good to see that she doesn't let negative comments about such a trivial matter like her hairstyle bother her.
As she told the Associated Press, 'I just made history and people are focused on my hair?' I, especially dig her last comment, "Nothing is going to change. I'm going to wear my hair like this during beam and bar finals. You might as well just stop talking about it." You go, girl!!!

I have been watching the highlights of the Olympics for the most part. I, too am so proud of our athletes but I don't have the time available to sit and watch entire events. That Gabby Douglas is not only an awesome athlete she is just plain cute. I hadn't heard the comments about her hair. I have noticed a real critical bend by some of the commentators this year.
I agree with you...good for her!!!
Here's a click for you!
Hi, Liggy - As I said on BlogDumps, I forgot to publish my post this morning, which was why you couldn't find it. I was going to write a post on the nonsense about Gabby's hair but found one better than I could write on http://theklowntimes.net. Meanwhile, she can smile all the way to the bank ... I read that her endorsements will amount to $100M.

Wow, $100M in endorsements? You go girl!
I love the comment 'I just made history and people are focused on my hair?' Instead of being rude or crying, she made a very good, common sense come-back. Really, she has very long hair and if I was trying to be as amazing as her it would be pulled back in any form so it wasn't in my way causing distractions.
I haven't seen any of the Olympics, but I Googled images of this young lady. She's magnificent and really beautiful, even if her hair isn't Vogue Magazine worthy LOL

Hi Liggy
I have seen some highlights on my computer... We don't have a TV here on the farm. I keep threatening to go get the one off the sailboat!
So much goes into being an athlete and to be a good one even more. Kudos to all of them that make the games what they are. I love the comments she made :)
Clicks and have a great week!
